    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
I AM GOING TO PLAY A FEW GAMES IN THE PRESEASON BUT ONLY FOR MAYBE A TOKEN AMOUNT. REGARDLESS OF WHAT PEOPLE MAY ARGUE, IT IS MY OPINION THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PICK WITH ANY CERTAINLY A SPREAD IN AN NFL PRESEASON GAME. THERE ARE SIMPLY TO MANY INTANGIBLES, HOW LONG WILL THE PLAYERS PLAY, THE QB, THE FACT THE GAMES MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING EXCEPT FOR US WHO BET IT, ECT...ECT. SO ALL PRESEASON PLAYS WILL BE OPINION PLAYS.

    8* MY TOP PLAY...VERY RARE (23-8 ) LAST YEAR IN FOOTBALL (74%)
6-7* HIGH RATED SELECTION ONLY WHEN ALOT OF GAMES ON THE CARD TO CHOSE FROM (WELL OVER 60%)
5* STRONG PLAY USUALLY HIGHEST WHEN ONLY A FEW GAMES
    4* STRONG SELECTION
    3* PROBABLE COVER
2* A GAME THAT SHOULD COVER
    1* ALMOST AN OPINION SELECTION
OPINION PLAY: GAME THAT I THINK MAY WIN BUT OFTEN JUST TO WATCH A GAME OR A LEAN.

    Analysis

Designated a powerhouse in the NFC East, the Giants normally low keyed offense did an about face and finished last season averaging 31 points per game in the final six games. Kerry Collins capped a break out year leading the offense along with Jeremy Shockey and we can expect more of the same in 2003. The G-men felt so good about their offense and defense that the off season was spent building the special teams. With Tom Brady leading the way and a defense that was terrific against the pass (199 yds pg, 11th in the NFL), the Pats look even better with several key off-season moves to bolster the run defense. They still don't have much of a running game, so Brady will likely carry the load again (226 yards passing pg, 11th overall) with a short/medium range passing game. Collins and Brady will play sparingly so look for Jessie Palmer and Damon Huard to carry the quarterbacking load. These teams are familiar with one another as they practice together. The Giants defense will be a factor here, look for them to hold on in a close skirmish.

Projected Score: New York Football Giants 14, Pats 10 OPINION SELECTION ON THE NEW YORK FOOTBALL GIANTS +2.5
