DEL MAR -- Race #6 -- QUATRAIN (#2)

The 6th race is a 2nd level allowance for fillies and mares at 1-1/16 miles on turf. Par is 104. QUATRAIN (3-1) has earned a set of figures for 3 consecutive races that make her an easy horse to like at this level. Her 97-109-105 on May 20th and a 107-110-105 on June 19th were the best recent figures. She absolutely crushed a field of N1X allowance horses last time out with a 99-102-103+ figure. She was so much the best in that race that she towed herself to the lead on the far turn and wasn't even ridden hard so she was capable of much better that day. This group is much tougher than the allowance field she just beat but she has multiple races that would win a typical race at this 104 level. Two more solid workouts since the last race 30 days ago means she should be ready to fire another big effort today.
GOOD STUDENT (7-2) always led her races in Argentina and seemed much better when allowed to go to the front last time out on the grass. She is likely to lead this race as long as she can. QUATRAIN has a very sharp interior move and should make a strong bid on GOOD STUDENT on the far turn. After that it's probably down to QUATRAIN being right there at the 1/8th pole while trying to hold off charges from the pair of Frankel fillies, LOTS OF HOPE and LA SCALA.
QUATRAIN is the spot play win bet in here and should offer better value than last time since the race is tougher. LOTS OF HOPE, LA SCALA and GOOD STUDENT are the trio that I am going to use in a quinella with QUATRAIN as the key. Good luck.
