NHL Odds: Sharks Visit Bell Centre to Take on Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens return home after a mini two-game road trip that saw them split games, winning against the defending Stanley Cup Champions and losing to the Minnesota Wild. They’ll look to get some consistency back in their game when they host the San Jose Sharks this Thursday. Like the Canadiens, the Sharks have struggled to be consistent in the early going of the season. Thought to be Stanley Cup contenders at the start of the year, San Jose has gone 3-5-1 in nine games, and currently sit in last place in the Pacific Division.

For Montreal, they’ll need to buckle down defensively if they hope to gain the consistency they seek. They’ve surrendered 3.22 goals per game, which is tied for 13th-worst in the NHL. It’s not been for a lack of goaltending; the team has allowed far too many high-quality scoring chances that regularly leave their ‘tenders out to dry.

The Sharks, however, have suffered from a goal drought to start the year and they haven’t been able to kick it. With all of the high-powered talent on the Sharks’ roster, they’ve managed to score just 2.67 goals per game. They’re going to need to figure out a way to score more if they hope to pull themselves out of the basement. Tune in for the 7 PM ET start to see how the clubs fare.
