  • Patriots Wideout Brandon LaFell Signs With The Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals began the process of rebuilding their depleted receiving corps by agreeing in principle with 29-year-old free agent wideout Brandon LaFell on Wednesday.

LaFell (6-2, 208 pounds) enters his seventh season, having spent the last two years in New England before being released.

He caught 37 passes for 515 yards in 11 games last season, starting the year on the PUP with a foot injury. This came one year after he broke on the scene in New England as a reliable second option to Rob Gronkowski, catching 74 passes for 953 yards and seven touchdowns in a championship campaign.

Opportunity will be in front of him in Cincinnati where Marvin Jones (Detroit) and Mohamed Sanu (Atlanta) bolted in free agency. In looking for any experience behind starter A.J. Green, the list comprises Mario Alford, James Wright and Jake Kumerow, who have combined for five career receptions, along with veteran Brandon Tate.
