ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – The Denver Broncos have opened a season 8-0 just once in the franchise’s history. That was in 1998, when they started 13-0 and went on to finish 14-2 and win Super Bowl XXXIII.
The Broncos could move to 8-0 a second time Sunday if they defeat the Indianapolis Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium. But that’s not the slice of history the team is thinking about the most these days. Peyton Manning is poised, if the Broncos prevail and he throws for at least 284 yards, to set NFL records for wins by a starting quarterback as well as career passing yards.
“And we all know what it means,’’ said tackle Ryan Harris. “A big day.’’
