Injury roundup: Chiefs lose Charles for season

Here’s a quick look at all the injury reports and updates from the NFL.com news desk so far in Week 2:

First Tony Moeaki, then Eric Berry, and now Jamaal Charles. The Chiefs suffered their third key season-ending injury Sunday when Charles suffered a torn ACL in his left knee against the Lions.

Michael Vick left Sunday night’s game with what was initially called a neck injury, but Eagles coach Andy Reid confirmed it was a concussion after the game.

Jets center Nick Mangold didn’t return after sustaining a right ankle injury against the Jaguars, but X-rays on the injury were negative. Mangold will have an MRI exam Monday.

It might have been a costly win for the Cowboys Sunday, as it was learned RB Felix Jones separated his shoulder and WR Miles Austin aggravated his hamstring, reported The Associated Press. The Cowboys had no updates on either injury.

Texans RB Arian Foster sat out the second half against the Dolphins after aggravating his hamstring injury. Foster said afterward he took himself out of the game because his injured leg was “getting a little tight.” The Texans also lost CB Johnathan Joseph (right ankle), who returned briefly during the second half but wasn’t able to finish the game.

It’s good news for Packers safety Nick Collins, who the team announced had complete movement in his extremities after being taken from the field on a stretcher with a neck injury.

Tony Romo returned from a rib injury to finish out the overtime win over the 49ers. Starting center Phil Costa (knee) was also sidelined.

The Bills lost WR Roscoe Parrish (left ankle) and RG Kraig Urbik (left knee), and both players are out indefinitely.

Raiders rookie CB DeMarcus Van Dyke (left knee) was also sidelined.

The Bears lost RT Gabe Carimi (right leg), S Major Wright (head) and WR Earl Bennett (chest) against the Saints.

Broncos coach John Fox said he didn’t know the severity of the groin strain that sidelined WR Eddie Royal. The Broncos lost another starter, TE Julius Thomas, to a sprained right ankle.

The Dolphins didn’t have defensive starters LB Karlos Dansby (groin) and CB Vontae Davis (hamstring) down the stretch against the Texans.

Chargers WR Malcom Floyd was sidelined by a groin injury and didn’t return against the Patriots.

The Patriots sustained a host of injuries, as CB Ras-I Dowling (thigh), S Patrick Chung (hand), P Zoltan Mesko (left knee) and TE Aaron Hernandez (knee) all left the game. Hernandez did not return, and The Boston Globe reported he was limping badly leaving the locker room.

The Ravens announced injuries to DT Terrence Cody (concussion) and WR David Reed (shoulder).

The news doesn’t look good for Bengals WR Jordan Shipley, who had his left knee in a brace and was on crutches, according to the team’s official blogger.

49ers WR Braylon Edwards left early against the Cowboys with a right knee injury and didn’t return. Edwards, who is scheduled for an MRI exam Monday, told Comcast SportsNet Bay Area he was feeling “OK.”

The Colts lost RG Ryan Diem (ankle) and DT Fili Moala (ankle) against the Browns.

The Redskins lost defensive backs Josh Wilson (back) and DeJon Gomes (hamstring).

Vikings CB Chris Cook left during the first half against the Bucs with a strained groin and did not return, per The Associated Press.
