I think it was in reference to my soap box comment. That may not be the best term to use there.

If it's for any other reason then I agree with you. How come I'm not allowed to have my side of the argument? Monte isnt a pro athlete either but he's allowed to take the other side?

This year one of his fines was for trying to give $1 to a ref as a fake bribe. That's just plain funny. The second was for donning a poncho and sombrero on the sidelines because they werent authorized by the NFL. The man has a great sense of humor and he uses these things to simply challenge himself. The players that I've heard on the radio around here think the stuff he pulls is funny and in good jest.

The list thing was funny too. By both men Lewis and Johnson. Maybe Lewis was trying to make a point. But I think Johnson did it as a challenge to himself.

Personally I couldnt care less about him being a role model. He hasnt got caught using PED's or gotten in legal trouble IMO that's good enough. Having fun along the way is a bonus. Especially in a league where many players and the front offices want to take the lighter side out. Do you think that slapping pies in faces of other players after they hit a walkoff is role model material? How about your beloved RedSox hero Ortiz getting caught using PED's? Or how about the numerous players that get busted every year for DUI's, domestic violence or illegal weapons? These players make great salaries because people want to see them hit a ball farther than any average person or out run the DB to the pylon or see a miracle half court buzzer shot. Role model is something we assign them outside of their role on the court, field or rink that they dont ask for. If you dont want your children to idolize sports figures than show them something else to idolize.

Sorry for the length. I'll get off my soap box now.
