Tennessee Titans -3 Under 47
The 11-3 San Diego Chargers are in Tennessee Christmas day to take on Vince Young and the Titans. The BetUS.com sportsbook has set the 7-7 Tennessee Titans as the -3 favorites and predicted a total of 47 points for the game.
NFL Betting fans should appreciate the Christmas gift they are getting and take all of their Christmas money and put it on the Chargers +3. I know Tennessee is 7-1 over their past eight games but if you look at their wins, only the Cardinals sit with a better record than 7-7. They lost by 10 to the Colts, who I feel are lucky they won’t play this Chargers team until the playoffs; otherwise their dream of a perfect season would have ended long ago.
Right now, I can hear you say, motivation will be a factor in the game; Tennessee can still make the playoffs while San Diego has the AFC West locked up. True but the Chargers are motivated to lock up a first round bye and to extend their nine game winning streak right through to the Super Bowl.
During their winning streak, the Chargers have beaten the top three teams in the always-tough NFC East with only Washington remaining on schedule and AFC North champions Cincinnati Bengals.
I will concede the Chargers defense has been poor against the run and that can’t be good versus a Titans team who boast the NFL’s top rusher Chris Johnson and the best mobile quarterback in the game, Vince Young. However, the Chargers defense has been shutting down opponents in the red zone giving up field goals instead of touchdowns. Against the fifth highest scoring team in the NFL, field goals won’t get it done.
The Titans chances get a little tougher when you factor in the losses of veterans Keith Bullock and David Thornton from the defense. Those two players account for 12 tackles a game; they will be missed.
